Today is the first day of school, everyone looks like still in there safety-zone, in there personal bubble. Although people look quite ready for what happened next, the information that comes from the tutor's is substantial massive. For me, the most significant aspect was the shoe idea generation, the mind mapping from the most general ideas to dig into the most minutiae one, while people throwing ideas, I saw myself need to work on that piece about coming out thoughts, but I did come up with the ideas of combine two different materials connect into something that is special. And that it's only just the beginning.

During the second period of the class, each of us has three words, I got "Ink", "Cut", and "masochism". We have to come out the idea just like the practice that with the shoe mind-map, listed down all the things that come out my head, and try to make the connection of it. First, for all I think the word "masochism" it's a name of some kind of cheese, like the first time I met this word, before I just pull out my phone and check the definition of the words, but now, I never think that I can "think so deeply" of this word. This affects my own practice in the following area of brainstorming to stimulate the limited of my thoughts, indeed, I come up with some ideas that base on the form of those words, in 30 minutes, I suffering at lacking ideas, same as my groupmates. We've been discussing considerably of our point of view for those words, in the end, us three did come out with some crappy ideas, perhaps we need to do more research on it. 

At the beginning of the class, I small the sense of the "idea generation", thanks to my high school "designing thinking", but the next second, I found out that it is completely different when I thought, but it did give me a rough view of this class. Undeniably I still got much more need to do.
 
   

-How do you feel about doing a longer project?

For me, Having this long project definitely means something much more. It's no longer a project anymore, but a duty need to finish, not only just finished, but also has to be perfect. It sure has much more time about what should I do, and have more time for secondary research, to learn from the greats. 

For the pros and cons of having a long period of time project, as I just mentioned before, gives people more time to research from the famous artist, and architect. people can plan their thoughts much clearly, not like cramp up five minutes before class started. In the other hands, such a long time of work will lazy people down their cautions of work, think about there's always have enough of time to catch up, but it's not. The time it a fair and crucial thing, that everybody has it, but not own it.  

-What would you like to do? What experiments? 

For the Illuminate project, I really enjoy drawing shadows of architecture, also the movements that shown form the pencil's texture, the technic of negative spaces, my personal experience, I like to play with lighting as well, I would really like to play with the different texture of papers with soft lighting. 

Before I start this project, I took different types of photos that contained different type of surface on the different structure. I decided to classify into two different ideas that are opposite to each other, which is "Chaos" and "Order". As "Chaos" represent the structure, and "Order" stands for surface. 

After doing research I had understood more about what is "Chaos" and " Order", and how to manipulate the distance between both ideas, so I might doing something that had the feeling of "Order", but "Chaos" involve inside. 

I used the idea of "Chaos" and " Order" these two ideas created this extraordinary bookshelf. The idea of a nice and tidy bookshelf, but use an clutter way to distort books isn't it ironic? It IS this irony that attracts me want to put two totally different ideas into one thing, and very look forward to the outcome.

Before I started this project, I decided to use wood as my material to build my model, before I go into my model making, I do research of which kind of wooden board is much more easy to cut, compare to others, so I used balsa wood, it can easily cut by a cutter. with the edge between piece and pieces, I chose using small hinges to make sure that the wooden part won't fall apart. Hinges are something that really useful that I think can apply on every subject. 

But the glue is something that real pain in the ass, In London, I couldn't find the same glue that I bring from Taiwan, even the PVC glue is so difficult to dry, took me a day to let it dry. 

Today is the Second day of my model making, I used spray paint to paint it black and white to increase the idea of chaotic, the mix of black and white also symbolize Chinese Tai Chi, the mixture of "Chaos" and "Order". 

While I'm spray painting I found out that by only using spray are not paint enough on my model, so I decided to add acrylic to add up more in order to pop up the color, also, I felt few of the wooden part to no look that heavy feeling of my project. Although it is a bookshelf, it can place any direction, not only just how is put, it can also be placed another way around, and that it the other way to show "Chaotic" concept. 

After this project started, I started deconstructing the subject of movement, by looking at the different field of explanation of movement, from architecture, industry, and installations. By research the differences between each field made me understand more about what is "Movement" to me, to this project. At first, I would like to use stretch, fold, and twist to continue my thoughts. As my thought processing, I found out that there are more possibilities to create a sense of "movement", so I back to my mindmap to think of more.  

-What is your design response to the brief?

The overall design used the word; twist, distort and wrap, by using these three words created this paper model prototype. 

-What is the context of your proposal?

The whole idea of this paper model is each of them can move separately, and people can walk in and out with this object, the movement is created by people control this object and move it from shape to shapes in order to get the idea of "Shapeshifting". 

- Who is the user?

This object will be placed in either a park or plaza, that people can walk through it, and interact with the audience.

Although it just a paper model that comes up in two hours, I'll still be thinking about something different then this paper model to look a different possibility.

while I am doing research of different artists works to look forward something similar to my project. However, I found out that the idea that came up my mind which is the "installation art that can interact itself", hasn't been used before, I realized that this idea was something new to the world, even though I research from different field to field, my idea hasn't been used from any one of the famous installation artist used before. Which makes me so excited that I have a sense of I really want to make this good, in order to show the result from the model. 

During the class time, I bring my paper model to the wooden workshop to try out my workable to make out of woods, however, since my work has to move every single angle, the tutor told me that maybe the steel workshop is more suitable for what I requested,  but I haven't run through the introduction with all the workshop, I'm not able to use anything in the steel workshop, nevertheless, I went to the 4D work shop to purchase the items that I need, took me a while, but it worth it.

And i start to progressing my model making....

During the self-study day, I used the item that I brought from yesterday, cardboard paper and hinges.

Today is the day we have to bring our final work to assess by other classmates. I had a lot of faith with my model, however, my sketchbook hasn't done yet so I have to bust myself to finished. while I'm doing my work, I saw lots of people seems done there work, thanks to the tutor gives us morning daytime to continue.

At the time I questioned myself that does my model goes well? Does it come out the way I want?  Since model making is my strength, I should use as my weapon to compete with others. By the time I'm percent my work, my classmates give me some very good advice of replacing the way how I'm showing to them probably might be interesting, also, they told me that it could be more than installation art, it could be a runway fashion show stage or an interactive stage that can perform by some famous art crew. Those ideas are so meaningful to me that I should experience on photoshop and the outcome are astonished.

After the tutor said about next weeks assessment, I'm freaking out. Since I am not yet confident about my ideas development, I will now need to really pick up what I left out.

Today is the last day of the assessments day, the student like me that put a lot of effort, but still missing something, at the beginning of the assessment, I deeply believe that I won't pass it because I know how bad I am, and it indeed gives me exceedingly pressure of last week. However, when I arrived at the Archway campus, the tutor told me that I did pass the assessment. It shocks me for until 15 minutes that I still can't believe it.

After this assessment, I kinda know how the school systems work now, can't say knows completely, but this assessment did help me massively on my works.
